Hand Tools

This section is all about blogs, buying guides, instructional and informational articles, and reviews about Hand Tools.

If you are here, we assume that you are fully aware of Hand tools and their usage. That said, as a mere formality and to enlighten those who are not aware of the term, here is a small brief that will help you understand what the hand tool is all about.

What are hand tools?

Simply said, a hand tool is any tool that relies on human muscle force rather than an electric engine. These include everything a craftsperson would employ to manually carry out tasks like cutting, chiselling, sawing, filing, or forging.

Wrenches, pliers, cutters, files, striking tools, struck or hammered tools, screwdrivers, vises, clamps, snips, hacksaws, drills, and knives are all examples of hand tools.

Other examples of hand tools include garden forks, pruning shears, and rakes, all of which are used in the garden or outdoors. Hand tools do not include portable power tools.

From the time when humans started using stones for hammering and cutting in the Stone Age, people have been using hand tools. The bronze age was characterised by the casting of copper and tin alloys into various instruments. Bronze instruments were more durable and efficient than their stone counterparts. During the Iron Age, iron gradually superseded bronze as the primary material for making tools. During this time, the Romans created tools that were conceptually comparable to those used today. Since the advent of the industrial revolution, tools have gone from being hand-made to mass-produced in a factory setting.

Types of hand tools

In many cases, the tasks we do every day would be impossible without the use of a hand tool. Since ancient times, we’ve relied on them to help us carry out a wide range of duties.

In almost every situation, you may find a hand tool that will do the job. While some instruments may be used for a variety of tasks, some are better suited to one particular task.

Knowing how they’re built and how to use them correctly is crucial if you want to get optimum outcomes. Several slip-ups and hurts might result from ignorance or carelessness.

When working with hand tools, accuracy and efficiency are more essential than speed. A craftsman’s tool selection is guided by the nature of the task at hand. He has to understand which instrument is most suited for a certain task. Or else, productivity and output will suffer.

There are Several Types of Hand Tools.

  • The instruments, including measuring implements, have been laid out.
  • Striking implements – hammers, and sledges
  • Files, drills, reamers, and other metal-cutting equipment.
  • Holding tools – Pliers and clamps
  • Sharpening and grinding tools
